The name samovar comes from Russian and means 'self-cooker'. Originally a samovar consisted of a (copper) kettle with a tap, which was placed on a charcoal, petroleum or electric fire. On top was a jar, in which a very strong tea was put. The tea was diluted with the hot water from the samovar. Dilmah's Opatha samovar is electric and has a capacity of 5L. Ideal for keeping water at the right temperature for making tea!
