Tea for Uda Walawe Wildlife
The Earl Grey tea comes from Ratnapura. At 1.5 hours distance you will find in the Udawalawe national Park where the Elephant Transit Home (ETH) is housed. Dilmah Conservation is actively involved in elephant conservation and currently sponsors the care of two elephant calves named 'Baby Dilmah' and 'Ted'. Quality of the top two tea leaves
Your strong and refreshing black Ceylon tea is packed with antioxidants and polyphenols, because at Dilmah only the top two leaves and bud of the tea plant are hand-picked. The slightly earthy character of this tea is beautifully balanced by the sweet, floral bergamot aroma. This grade of this tea is called Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings (B.O.P.F). Sri Lankan tea leaves are qualified in 4 main grades, Leaf, Broken, Fannings and Dust, where Leaf is the category with full leaves and Dust is the most fine pieces of tea. BOPF is a tea grade that stands for Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings. Fannings are smaller particles of the Broken Orange Pekoe, and is a gradation larger than dust. This tea grade therefore has a relatively large surface area that comes into contact with the water.
